Barbara Techel is the author of the multi-award winning Frankie, the Walk ‘N Roll Dog book series. When her dachshund, Frankie, suffered a spinal injury, Barbara had her custom-fitted for a wheelchair. Frankie persevered, and Barbara realized the beautiful opportunity she had to share Frankie and give others hope and inspiration to be the best they can be. Along with sharing Frankie’s story with children, Barbara and Frankie routinely volunteer as a therapy dog team at a local hospital, senior assisted facility, and hospice community, spreading joy wherever they go.

Meet a Dog Named Cheeseburger

Not all dogs are lucky like I am to have a warm, soft bed to sleep in everyday. I love being snug as a bug... especially on cold winter days. My mom shared this story with me of a homeless dog named Cheeseburger, so I wanted to share with you too. Let's be grateful for all that we have... just like Cheeseburger is... and remember to live in the moment and take one day at a time... just as he teaches us. Good dog, Cheeseburger, good dog.

Here's the story!

Oh the Places Frankie Goes!

My friends at a school in Canada are one of the best things that has ever happened to me! They love to follow my journey, and I in turn, love to watch all the things they learn because of me. It truly humbles a little dog on wheels I tell ya!
Their awesome teacher, Karen started a Wiki sight with all their Frankie stories and drawings. I'm not real up on what a Wiki is, but I can tell you one thing... I LOVE ALL the pictures and stories and everything these kids are doing!! See for yourself!

Frankie, the Walk 'N Roll Dog to Help Out the Ranch

I am doing wheelie's with excitement because I am donating a portion of my book sales to a awe-inspiring ranch in Montana for the month of April. It is called the Rolling Dog Ranch and they take in disabled animals. Mom and Dad to these animals is Steve and Alyane. They left high paying corporate jobs to follow their hearts... and give back to animals in need. Now that makes a dog want to wag their tail till it falls right off!
So if you can help all you have to do is purchase my book, which makes a great gift to teach children (and adults alike) that overcoming adversity is really easy with a paws-i-tive attitude. And it can really teach your child compassion. How great is that? Check out Rolling Dog Ranch today to see how you can help.

Visiting Canada

Question submitted by Jordan, age 10

Can you and your mom come to our school one day?

Well, Jordan, you never do know! We certainly won't rule it out. Visiting schools is very fun for me and I hope to do more Skype sessions like I did with your school. That was way cool! I got to see all of you in Canada via the computer, but then I got to take a nap right afterwards. Dosen't get any better than that!

Frankie Raising Money for Rolling Dog Ranch Animal Sanctuary

Hot-diggity dog! I am so excited to announce that a portion of my book sales for the month of April will be donated to Rolling Dog Ranch Animal Sanctuary. This is one of my favorite organizations! Why, you ask? Well because they take in disabled animals and love them their whole very long life. Isn't that the greatest?
My mom and I really want to support their efforts so that is why we have decided to donate a portion of my books sales to them. So if you were holding off on buying a book, now is the time! It also makes a great gift for another and teaches the valuable lessons of compassion and tolerance.
To read the swell press release my mom did about this donating event, please read here.
If you can't buy a book, but can help with a donation, we'd love that too. Just tell Rolling Dog Ranch that Frankie sent you!

The Dachshund Book Review Website

Hey everyone, check this out! My pal, Roo, who happens to be a full fledged doxie himself has reviewed my book, Frankie, the Walk 'N Roll Dog. His mom, Deb started the site to give all those crazy lovin' doxie people out there one central location to go to and find books all about dachshunds. Roo reviewed my book and I think he did a dog-gone good job, so check it out yourself on his site, The Dachshund Book Review. Thanks, Roo! Arf-a-roo!
