Barbara Techel is the author of the multi-award winning Frankie, the Walk ‘N Roll Dog book series. When her dachshund, Frankie, suffered a spinal injury, Barbara had her custom-fitted for a wheelchair. Frankie persevered, and Barbara realized the beautiful opportunity she had to share Frankie and give others hope and inspiration to be the best they can be. Along with sharing Frankie’s story with children, Barbara and Frankie routinely volunteer as a therapy dog team at a local hospital, senior assisted facility, and hospice community, spreading joy wherever they go.

Merry Misfits: Disabled Animals of Rolling Dog Ranch

I think Steve and Alayne Smith of Rolling Dog Ranch are just grand!  The love and support they show for disabled pets is so wonderful.  This video was taken when they were located in Wyoming, but now they are in New Hampshire.
But as a disabled dachshund, I want you to know it is true what they say, that all these animals want is a chance at life.  I'm so glad that Rolling Dog Ranch helps animals like myself who otherwise would not have had a chance. My mom says I am a huge blessing to live with and take care of... so maybe after seeing this video, you too perhaps would want a special needs pet?

Goodbye to Blind Callie of Rolling Dog Ranch

Share/Save/Bookmark

One of my favorite doxie's, blind Callie, of Rolling Dog Ranch went to dog heaven this week.  She will be greatly missed.  She was a very endearing dachshund and loved by so  many.

Though my mom and I are sad to hear of this news, we smiled once again watching the video of Callie "pretending" not to hear when it was time to go out for her nightly duty.  What a character she was!  Heaven just gained a sweet, funny, little dog!

Frankie the Walk 'N Roll Dog Wins Photo Contest with $100 Going to Charity of Her Choice

How cool is this?  Mom completely forgot she entered me in this contest, so imagine how surprised we were when we found out today that I won?  My Tail Hurts From Wagging So Much blog sponsored the contest and $100 will be donated to my charity of choice, which I picked Rolling Dog Ranch.  They take in and care for animals with special needs and I think they are dog-gone special.  Four cases of Blue Dog Bakery yummy treats will also be delivered to Rolling Dog Ranch.  Here's my winning photo:

I like to "help" my mom with planting flowers-- besides the fact I love riding in the wheelbarrow!

Jack Hanna Visits Disabled Animal Sanctuary- Video Now On-line

My mom and I have a special place in our hearts for Rolling Dog Ranch.  Steve and Alyane take in all the animals that no one wants- as Steve says, "Don't take pity on these animals.  They just want to get on with life."  I can vouch for that!  This is a very heartwarming video and I hope you will watch it.

Just this past week Catherine interviewed Alayne Marker of Rolling Dog Ranch about the distinguished Henry Bergh Award they received. To follow on the heels of Rolling Dog Ranch and their mission to help disabled animals, is such an honor for my mom and me. Do listen to the recording of the show with Alayne. You will feel her heart as she talks about her life on the ranch. I think Rolling Dog Ranch simply Rocks!!

Jack Hanna Visits Rolling Dog Ranch Animal Sanctuary

WOW WEE! Can you believe it? My mom and I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Rolling Dog Ranch and Jack Hanna and his wife visited them to film a TV show. How hot-diggity cool is that? And that is one of the animals at the ranch in the photo... blind Callie who is doing the perfect doxie pose and trying to fly upside down... we doxie's can really fly, you know!

Here is an expert from Rolling Dog Ranch blog:
Yesterday we hosted wildlife expert Jack Hanna, his wife Suzi, and their film crew who were here to do a story on our animals for their TV show 'Into The Wild.' The local paper, the Missoulian, sent a reporter and photographer out to the ranch to interview the Hanna's about their visit with us and the other Montana topics they're going to be covering on this trip. Be sure to read the full story here! Congratulations to everyone at the ranch! We are so proud of you!

Frankie, the Walk 'N Roll Dog to Help Out the Ranch

I am doing wheelie's with excitement because I am donating a portion of my book sales to a awe-inspiring ranch in Montana for the month of April. It is called the Rolling Dog Ranch and they take in disabled animals. Mom and Dad to these animals is Steve and Alyane. They left high paying corporate jobs to follow their hearts... and give back to animals in need. Now that makes a dog want to wag their tail till it falls right off!
So if you can help all you have to do is purchase my book, which makes a great gift to teach children (and adults alike) that overcoming adversity is really easy with a paws-i-tive attitude. And it can really teach your child compassion. How great is that? Check out Rolling Dog Ranch today to see how you can help.

Frankie Raising Money for Rolling Dog Ranch Animal Sanctuary

Hot-diggity dog! I am so excited to announce that a portion of my book sales for the month of April will be donated to Rolling Dog Ranch Animal Sanctuary. This is one of my favorite organizations! Why, you ask? Well because they take in disabled animals and love them their whole very long life. Isn't that the greatest?
My mom and I really want to support their efforts so that is why we have decided to donate a portion of my books sales to them. So if you were holding off on buying a book, now is the time! It also makes a great gift for another and teaches the valuable lessons of compassion and tolerance.
To read the swell press release my mom did about this donating event, please read here.
If you can't buy a book, but can help with a donation, we'd love that too. Just tell Rolling Dog Ranch that Frankie sent you!
