Frankie's Therapy Dog Work

Question submitted by Jade and Andrea, age 10 from school in Canada

Does Frankie like working at the hospitals?

I do! I do! One day I was requested to visit every staff member in every department in the hospital. Took me over two hours to visit everyone, but it sure was fun! The hospital was working to raise money for a charity and one of the prizes for reaching their goal was a visit from a therapy dog of their choice. They picked me! Boy, was I honored! That is me in the photo above with two of the staff members. I had my picture taken with each department. There are about seven different therapy dogs that work at my local hospital right now. My favorite thing to do when I go to the hospital is to visit the pediatric floor. I feel bad when kids are not feeling well and need to be there. But when they see me they always smile! My mom picks me up and sets me on the patients bed and they get to pet me. I love being pet and I especially love to see kids smile.

Hey Frankie, nice to meet you! Arf! And way to go on being a guide dog in training. My mom had researched doing that but she couldn't bear to have to give a dog away after all the training. So she told me to tell you to tell your parents how proud she is of them for the work they do... and we are SO PROUD of you for your much needed work. You rock!!

From the grade 5's..Dear Frankie, do you know if cats ever do therapy work? If so, have you ever met one.

Have you met any other type of animal that does therapy work?

Thanks Frankie..Merry Christmas!

Absolutely, yes! Cats do therapy work too. And my mom read about bunnies and horses that do therapy work too. If you visit www.deltasociety.com I believe you can read about other animals that do therapy work. My mom just told me that goats work with chronicall ill children. Isn't that great?
